What is Water Damage Restoration?

Water damage restoration is the process of returning your property to its original condition before water intrusion. At Grammatico, this involves a thorough series of steps: inspection, extraction, dehumidification, sanitation, and if needed, reconstruction.

Our technicians are IICRC certified, which is the industry standard recognized by most insurance companies. This ensures that every job we complete meets both professional and insurance-approved restorations protocols so you can feel confident your property is in qualified hands.

Why is Water Damage Restoration Important?

Water Damage can lead to serious structural issues – not just caused by them. Ceilings, walls, and even floors may deteriorate or collapse from prolonged exposure to moisture. That’s why Grammatico acts fast, minimizing damage and preventing dangerous conditions before they escalate.

Ignoring water damage can also lead to long-term health risks due to mold, bacteria, and pests. That’s why you should call Grammatico if you see any signs of water damage. Acting quickly protects your property and your health.

Common Causes of Water Damage

Understanding what caused the damage is the first step to fixing it. At Grammatico our trained technicians know how to identify and trace the most common sources of water intrusion including:

  • AC unit condensation
  • Burst or leaking pipes
  • Old or faulty water heaters
  • Blocked gutters or drains
  • Overflowing toilets
  • Clogged appliances (dishwashers, washing machines)
  • Septic tank or sewer backups
  • Natural disasters or heavy rain
  • Inefficient roof drainage
  • Faulty sprinkler systems
  • Malfunctioning sump pumps

Even if the damage seems hidden or unrelated to these sources, Grammatico’s inspection process helps uncover the root cause and address it fully.

Grammatico’s 5-Step Restoration Process

When you call Grammatico, we follow a proven five-step process to fully restore your home or building.

Step 1 – Inspection

We start by identifying the source of the water, the contamination level, and how far the damage has spread. Our inspection covers:

Water Source: Identifying how water entered the property.

Water Damage Class: This helps us determine how much drying and removal is needed

Contamination Category: Determining whether it’s Clean (broken pipes), Gray (dishwasher overflow), or Black (sewage or flood water).

Grammatico uses infra-red cameras, moisture meters, and industry knowledge to assess the situation accurately.

Step 2 – Extraction

Using industrial vacuums, submersible pumps, and wed/dry vacs, we remove all standing water and hidden moisture that can hide behind walls or under flooring.

Step 3 – Drying & Dehumidifying

Our technicians use air movers, commercial dehumidifiers, and airflow techniques to dry the structure throughly, especially in his-damage areas. This is a critical step that prevents mold growth and structural damage.

Step 4 – Cleaning & Sanitizing

All affected areas are cleaned with antimicrobial solutions and sanitized using HEPA vacuums and air scrubbers. If the damage is Category 3, we ensure full disinfection and deodorization, keeping safety at the forefront.

Step 5 – Repairs & Reconstruction

Finally, our team restores and/or replaces damage materials. This can range from drywall repairs and repainting to complete reconstruction, depending on the extent of the damage. Carpets, flooring, and trim are either salvaged or replaced as needed. Grammatico will always guide you on what’s safe and cost effective to restore.
